Most herbal teas are considered safe during pregnancy, as long as you don't drink them in large amounts (1 or 2 cups a day is ideal). Chamomile tea may be linked to circulation problems in babies, so avoid drinking in large amounts

  • Black and Blue Cohosh may lead to pre-term birth and miscarriage

  • Dong Quai tea can lead to miscarriage or pre-term birth caused by uterine contractions

  • Ginseng tea can cause growth impairment and birth defects

  • Licorice tea can lead to pre-term birth and fetal anomalies

  • Motherwort

  • Sage tea contains thujone, which has been linked to miscarriage and high blood pressure, so avoid drinking in large amounts

  • Parsley tea may increase the risk of miscarriage and affect your baby's development, so avoid drinking in large amounts

  • Peppermint tea may cause very mild uterine contractions, so do not drink this in large amounts, especially during your first trimester

  • Speak to a medical professional about prolapse- they are likely to recommend manual training of your pelvic floor muscles to address your prolapse.

  • Kegel exercises will help tighten the pelvic floor muscles- the muscles that surround the vagina. Consider performing kegel exercises (with or without yoni egg crystals or conventional kegel balls).

  • Consider other exercises that strengthen your core such as pilates and glute bridges.

Simple Tea Recipes

(Try to use filtered, purified, or spring water when making herbal teas to avoid changes to their flavours. Tap water or distilled water should be avoided where possible.)

(You may alternatively use a tea ball for these recipes.)


  • Chamomile tea- Fill your disposable tea bag with freshly picked chamomile flower. Place your tea bag into your boiled cup of water and add a mint sprig or 2 apple mint leaves (optional).

  • Lavender tea- Place 4tsps of fresh lavender buds (or 1 large tablespoon of dried lavender buds) into your disposable tea bag. Place your tea bag into your boiled cup of water and drink once cool. Add honey for a sweeter taste.

  • Marigold (Calendula) tea- Place 2tsps of calendula flowers into your disposable tea bag. Place your tea bag into your boiled cup of water and drink once cool. Drink twice a day.Drink twice a day for a month for fibroids.

  • Motherwort tea- Place 1tsp of dried motherwort into your disposable tea bag. Place your tea bag into your boiled cup of water and drink once cool. Drink twice a day.

  • Rosemary tea- Place a few sprigs of fresh rosemary in your cup. Pour your boiled water over it and drink once cool.

  • Yarrow tea- Place 1tsp of yarrow flowers or dried yarrow leaves into your disposable tea bag. Place your tea bag into your boiled cup of water and drink once cool. Drink three times a day.
