Shalom, womb sister.
In this Instagram story, I posted about why I use 'holy water' for my yoni steams.
Holy water is water that is:
bottled spring water, filtered water, or water from a clean natural source e.g. nearby a lake, river, or stream
prayed/blessed upon before use
When we think negative thoughts near water- or speak negatively- around water the water creates ugly/distorted water crystals...
When we think positive thoughts- or say positive things- near water the water crystals arrange themselves beautifully & perfectly.
This is why I choose to speak words of blessing and power over the water I steam with before/whilst boiling it...
... So many hands have handled our water before it reaches us, so when doing self-care rituals such as yoni steaming, we need to re-charge the water so that it serves the purpose we intend for it.
Simple water blessings I like to use:
"Thank you, God, for this water"
"May this water be nourishing and healing unto my body"
Sound- circling a tibetan singing bowl (or one strike)*
*for why I use sound, watch this YouTube video.
Although tempting, we don't need to make this part of our self-care ritual complicated.
If you are of Catholic faith, you may want to also or alternatively cite the traditional blessing of water: “Blessed are you, Lord, Almighty God, who deigned to bless us in Christ, the living water of our salvation, and to reform us interiorly, grant that we who are fortified by the sprinkling of or use of this water, the youth of the spirit being renewed by the power of the Holy Spirit, may walk always in newness of life." (Look up the water blessing prayer from the Novus Ordo Book of Blessings and use pink Himalayan salt vs table salt- many cultures yoni steam with pink sea salt. Link 1; link 2)
